Loogpla started diving in 1993. A Divemaster since Nov. 2005, and an Instructor since June 2008, she loves diving in the Pacific Northwest, showing others the wonders of the underwater world, and giving guided tours to her favorite underwater spots.  Her goal is to spend as much time as possible traveling around the world and  with anyone who loves to dive.  Her area of specialization is teaching and working with divers with disabilities.

Norm Oliver

Norm has been an active diver since 1989 and has logged over 1200 dives. Many of these local dives in our Everett, Camano and Mukilteo areas. He has helped with many cleanup activities done at locations such as Lake Stevens, Twin Lakes, Lake Ki, along with, Mukilteo, Camano and Everett. During this time Norm has worked to become an active Dive Instructor through PADI.  He holds an Open Water Instructor rating and is active in the local dive community.

Special Courses:

At Evergreen Dive Service we run a special program designed by PADI for Scouts and their parents/ families.

We can attend a District Roundtable Meeting to provide information on how we can assist you and help you earn your SCUBA Merit Badge.

We have a registered BSA SCUBA Merit Badge Counselor at our location, and provide meeting facility for your convenience.

We offer other Merit Badges to Scout Troops:

·        Emergency First Responder – Qualifies for First Aid/CPR Merit Badge

·        Swimming

·        Lifesaving

Requirements for the Scuba Diving merit badges include:

·        Completion of the Swimming merit badge prior to entering into the Scuba Training or in-water portion of the requirements.

·        Show knowledge of first aid for injuries or illnesses that could occur while scuba diving, including hypothermia, hyperventilation, squeezes, decompression illness, nitrogen narcosis, motion sickness, fatigue, overexertion, heat reactions, dehydration, injuries by aquatic life, and cuts and scrapes.

·        Identify the condition that must exist before performing CPR on a person, and explain how to recognize such conditions.  Demonstrate the proper technique for performing CPR.

·        Explain what an ecosystem is, and describe four aquatic ecosystem a dive might experience.

·        Discuss the Scuba Diver’s Code, and explain the importance of each guideline to a scuba diver’s safety.

·        Earn an Open Water Diver Certification.

·        Find out about three career opportunities in the scuba industry.  Pick one and find out the education training and experience required for the profession.

·        NOTE: Scouts with current Open Water Certification will not have to recertify to earn the merit badge, but they will have to show completion of the Swimming merit badge.

SOME INFORMATION ABOUT OUR OPEN WATER DIVER CERTIFICATION CLASS:

Our Open Water Course is conducted over two consecutive weekends.  A typical class starts on the 2nd Friday of the month with a class from 6:00pm – 9:30pm.   On Saturday & Sunday we will meet again at 9:00am for more class time, and we go to the pool in the afternoon.  The following weekend we go to do the Open Water dives.

During class, we will have 5 Knowledge Development sections, 5 hours of confined water training, and we will make 4 dives in Puget Sound at two different locations to complete your PADI Open Water Certification.   .

The cost of the Group Course is $349.00(for courses with 6 or more students.) which includes PADI textbook, and PADI Certification card.

Evergreen Dive Service will provide for your use:  SCUBA tank, regulator, buoyancy compensator (BC) dive computer, weight system, mask, snorkel, fins, gloves, and a warm dry suit for Puget Sound.
